Curriculum
The Kindilan educators are trained to develop exciting learning programs that reflect and respond to your child’s needs. We recognise and value your child’s interests, ideas and strengths and we organise activities that give your child an opportunity to guide their own learning.
Our learning environments are carefully organised to inspire curiosity, a sense of exploration and a yearning to discover! Together with their peers we acknowledge and encourage your child’s efforts, achievements, struggles and their perseverance.
Both indoor and outdoor environments offer a wide range of experiences that help to develop positive relationships and effective communicative skills within your child. We encourage the children to connect with nature, both inside and out.
The children are encouraged to use many different ways to demonstrate their understanding of the world and express their creativity and thoughts as we celebrate every child’s way of thinking, of learning and of discovering. Our daily curriculum understands the importance of drawing and sculpting, dance and movement, painting and role-play in the growth of your child’s understanding.
Natural Resources and Play
Natural play resources are an integral part of the play environment. Studies have shown the benefits of utilising natural resources against potential risks that may be associated, including:
- Children who play regularly in natural environments demonstrate more advanced motor fitness, including coordination, balance and agility.
- Higher immune systems can be built within the children, resulting in less sickness (which we all can appreciate!)
- Children develop an affinity with nature and a positive environmental ethic when regularly in contact with natural environments.
- Exposure to natural environments improves children’s cognitive development by improving their awareness, reasoning and observational skills.
These spaces foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education. They invite spontaneity, open-ended interactions, exploration, discovery and connecting with nature. Combined with collaboration with their peers and educators this environment can sustain and maintain interest and curiosity in our world and their role in it.
Educators are also regularly informed of changes to safety requirements from important bodies such as Kidsafe.
